Kolkata Chapter - SERVICES OFFERED
DIGNITY HELPLINE : Dignity Helpline is the lifeline of senior citizens in distress & difficult circumstances. This service is about a provision of a responsive Social Support System for senior citizens who are subjected to Elder Abuse & other complications. It includes offer of: 1) Rescue and protection from physical violence from within and outside the family; 2) Emotional support through trained counsellors; 3) Strategies for coping with difficult circumstances; 4) Legal advice and police assistance; 5) Help to obtain admission in Old Age Homes if warranted; 6) Counselling of the family members for better and more appropriate treatment towards the elders. TRUSTED INFORMATION: It's a one stop service provider wherein A to Z information related to all the requirements of the growing 50+ population is provided to each & every caller. We ensure that appropriate and authentic information is given to every caller depending on the need of the caller. Be it, Hospital, Diagnostics Services, Ambulance & Hearse Van, Nurses & Ayah, 24 hours Chemists, Oxygen Cylinder, Oldage homes, Fooding, Tours & Travels, and many of such kind are available.
DIGNITY COMPANIONSHIP : This service provides companionship through our member volunteers of the Foundation. These volunteers are trained in social counselling and have learnt the art of listening to the loneliness problems of senior citizens. They visit the homes of senior citizens who calls up the Foundation for such kind of help.
DIGNITY DEMENTIA DAY CARE CENTRE: A centre of excellence for providing support and care to the " Dementia" patients . Dignity Foundation has started this pioneering service in Kolkata in January 2007 with a philosophy to promote customized, individual specific, personalized care of people with Dementia. The centre offers the following exclusive services; 1) Dementia / Alzheimer's patients' care; 2) Awareness building about Dementia; 3) Regular interaction and assurance from counsellor; 4) A Psychologist monitoring the care system, overseeing rehabilitation and providing emotional support to the member; 5) A highly selective set of mind games and psychometric tests are also undertaken periodically to understand the stage of the disease.
A car pick-up brings the dementia afflicted to the centre where they are looked after for the whole day. They are provided meals and recreation. 10 patients can be accommodated and the centre works from 10am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday.
SECURITY WITH DIGNITY : The " Security with Dignity Project" is initiated to focus on the empowerment of the senior's safety in their homes and neighborhood areas through joint intervention of Kolkata Police and Dignity Foundation . It is a 3 point programme focussing on precaution , protection and prevention has been launched within the jurisdiction of Kolkata City wherein the Senior Citizens have to register their particulars in a registration form available in the Dignity Foundation Office at Dhakuria.
DIGNITY SECOND CAREER: Dignity Foundation introduces "Second Careers" - A customize service that provides advice and placements in reputed organizations based on their experience and skill-sets. This is an initiative to create job opportunities for persons above 50 years and providing them a choice of productive occupation to help enrich their lives.
CHAYER ADDA : Senior citizens meet 5 days a week, 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m, for networking, relaxation and enrichment. Chayer Adda is an opportunity for the 50+ for social interaction, participation, talent appreciation and recognition. Chayer Adda is the platform for the 50+ to showcase their talent, share their joys & sorrows and enable them to make new friends. Presently Kolkata Chapter have two Chayer Adda - one is in Dhakuria and another in Salt Lake . In Chayer Adda members get the scope of interacting with each other and to participate in several activities like Exercises for Health, Aerobics, Yoga & Meditation, Hobby and Craft Classes, Cooking Classes Festival Celebrations, Group Singing, Spiritual Lectures, Satsang, Antakshari, Indian Dance, Reading, Quiz & Games, Picnics, Competitions, Talks on interesting subjects
